An affair of travel and food in these five Indian cities: The spices begin their customary dance on the perfectly flat stage of the frying pan as soon as the chef throws them in the hot oil. The finely chopped onions which follow have their own melody to sing. Their song continues until they turn golden brown after which they meet the freshly mashed potatoes on the pan and add their juicy flavours to it. Just next to it, the rice batter falls in love with the steaming hot cast iron pan and spreads on its surface before rising in glory. The story continues and the mashed potato mixture meets the thin rice crust on the bigger pan, a few chopped tomatoes, green chillies and grated coconut too join the party before they are enclosed in the form of a letter roll and served on a banana leaf with spicy chutneys. People call this process, cooking, we call it Art. And we stand at a point where the smell of this food meets the music of the waves and the dauntless spirit of the shinning sun. No luxurious restaurant can replace the feeling of eating underneath the open sky while wondering about the vastness of the ocean. Yes, we travel for food. People call us travelling foodies but we like to define ourselves as the ministers who want to unite travel and food in holy matrimony. We are bitten by the lust for food and drenched completely in the love for travel and we bring to you today bits and bytes about the affair of food and travel in these five cities.
