It is one of the most popular and most visited hill stations in the Indian sub continent. Situated along the Beas River, Manali is nestled in the Himalayas. 4. Srinagar

Srinagar is one of the largest cities of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The city is residing along the banks of Jhelum River and is also home to gardens, houseboats and dry fruits. Srinagar is the summer capital of the state and sometimes referred to as ‘Venice of the East’.

Initially Mughals ruled the kingdom but after the death of Aurangzeb in 1707, Pashtun infiltration increased and Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab annexed a major part of Srinagar in 1814.

On 26th October 1947 instrument of accession was signed between Gulab Singh and the Government of India, official making the erstwhile kingdom a part of India.

5. Chail

Chail is a hill station located in the Shivalik region of Himachal Pradesh. The city is located alongside the valley of Sutlej. Pine and deodar forests can be found in abundance.

The history of the city runs back to the late 18th century when Maharaja of Patiala was banished from entering the erstwhile summer capital, Shimla. It is then that he resolved to make Chail as his own summer retreat.
