Ditch the Bars, Trek Away on Your Next Holiday featured:- India is home to some incredibly breathtaking trekking trails. There is a huge chance that one of these beautiful routes is not too far away from you. A trekking holiday is a great way to bond, meet interesting people and subject yourself to some stunning views. We put together a list of the 5 Best Trekking Trails in India for those who enjoy adventure.

Ditch the Bars, Trek Away on Your Next Holiday featured

Triund Valley, Mcleodgang

18 Kilometers from Dharamshala, Triund is home to breathtaking views and a trekking trail that goes through oak trees, grasslands and delicious food. The short 7 Kilometer trek is an even mix of flat surfaces and steep climbs. You could choose to do a day trek or camp overnight. It is rather convenient to book your trek at Mcleodgang and rent sleeping bags and tents for your overnight stay.

Chembra Valley, Kerala

Chembra is the highest peak in Kerala and offers some stunning views of Wayanad and the Niligiri Hills. Lush green trees and a walk through the forest are a welcome break for those who are otherwise used to the traffic and pollution of the cities. The trek takes almost three hours and takes you through a heart shaped lake that has never dried up ever. Trekkers must take permissions from the Forest Office before beginning the trek. The permission is relatively easy to get. Overnight camping at Chembra Peak is prohibited.

Araku Valley, Andhra Pradesh

A rather leisure trek, Araku is a simple walk in the park that offers great sights including the Borra caves, tribal museum and the Katiki waterfalls. Situated in Vizag, the Araku Valley is home to some of the finest Indian coffee. This trek defines the term ‘Coffee to Go, Please!’

Valley of Flowers, Uttarakhand

A UNESCO World Heritage Sight, the Valley of Flowers located in the Western Himalayas is an experience you must witness at least once in your life. Breathtaking views of spectacular flowers mixed in the backdrop of lofty mountains will set your heart racing like never before. The Valley of Flowers is also home to some endangered wild life including the Asiatic Black Bear, Snow Leopard and Musk Deer. The Valley of Flowers Trek is our personal favorite.

Nearest Airport is in Dehradun (292 KM) and Railway Station is in Rishikesh (273 KM). Well connected roads to all major cities.

Chadar Trek, Ladakh

A unique trek available only in the winters requires trekkers to walk over a frozen Zanskar river. The challenging Chadar Trek distances a 105 Kilometers. The extremely low temperatures and thin oxygen add to the difficulty of this route. The trek is only advisable for advanced level trekkers who have sufficient experience in negotiating other medium to hard level trails. The very thought of walking on ice and experience the beauty of Ladakh makes the trek worth the while and hard work.

Best Indian Destinations For Your Summer Holiday: India is a land of diverse geography spread from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. With so many destinations on offer and “Atithi Devo Bhava” being the ideology, It makes India a very popular tourist destination among domestic and international travellers. Struggling with the soaring temperatures in the summer, Indians run to the hills for their share of respite and calmness. Some of India’s popular destinations that are a must visit are:

Best Indian Destinations For Your Summer Holiday

1.Manali

It is one of the most popular and most visited hill stations in the Indian sub continent. Situated along the Beas River, Manali is nestled in the Himalayas. Sitting at a height of approximately 6500ft, this hill station has a population of close to 20000. Manali is also the favorable stop for people traveling to Rohtang Pass and Ladakh.

This hill station gets its name from the lawgiver Manu and the word Manali means “The Abode Of Manu”. There is a temple in the old Manali area devoted to sage Manu. Manali is sometimes also referred to as the Valley of Gods.

2.Shimla

Located in the capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla is buzzing with tourists round the year. It makes for a perfect destination for those who want to experience awe-inspiring interiors of the state.

The area is named after Hindu Goddess Kali’s incarnation ‘Shyamla Devi’. Simla, as it was known during the colonial rule was also the summer capital of the British. Earlier it was capital for the state of Punjab but later became the capital of Himachal Pradesh in 1971.

3.Dalhousie

A hill station well known for its scenic grandeur, Dalhousie is situated on five hills. Nestled between snow-capped mountains, it is situated at a height close to 2000m.

The Hill station gets its name from Lord Dalhousie, the erstwhile British Governor general; he was the one who had established Dalhousie as his summer retreat.

4. Srinagar

Srinagar is one of the largest cities of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The city is residing along the banks of Jhelum River and is also home to gardens, houseboats and dry fruits. Srinagar is the summer capital of the state and sometimes referred to as ‘Venice of the East’.

Initially Mughals ruled the kingdom but after the death of Aurangzeb in 1707, Pashtun infiltration increased and Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab annexed a major part of Srinagar in 1814.

On 26th October 1947 instrument of accession was signed between Gulab Singh and the Government of India, official making the erstwhile kingdom a part of India.

5. Chail

Chail is a hill station located in the Shivalik region of Himachal Pradesh. The city is located alongside the valley of Sutlej. Pine and deodar forests can be found in abundance.

The history of the city runs back to the late 18th century when Maharaja of Patiala was banished from entering the erstwhile summer capital, Shimla. It is then that he resolved to make Chail as his own summer retreat.

Common Signs that You Need a Holiday Desperately: Bosses and teachers can be a serious pain in the neck. But, It doesn’t stop just there. There is a whole lot of other reason why we end up deserving or needing a holiday to break out of the every day monotony. A wise man once said, ”There is no better cure for anything than a holiday.” We put together a list of some of the most common signs that you need a holiday NOW!

Common Signs that You Need a Holiday Desperately

What time will you be back- phobia

A husband, a wife or a child. Everybody gets asked these questions and they can get pretty annoying. At times, we just want to be out and not come back. Be on our own, be with friends or just be with acquaintances. So, if you are getting unusually annoyed of having to answer the dreaded, ‘What time will you be back?,’ you need a holiday.

I now recognise the faces of the cops on my way to work-phobia

You wear the same-ish clothes each day, have the same-ish breakfast and head to work or school on the absolute same path. That can be pretty boring and annoying. Sometimes, you just want to take a right from the beautiful orange tree on the mountain rather than the one you take to work. So, if you are in a state where you recognise the cops, know exactly where the garbage is and can reach work with your eyes closed, that is a definite sign that you need a holiday.

Liking Check-ins and Travel Photos-phobia

Your brother is in Manali, your friend’s holidaying in Corbett and that dreaded colleague is in Goa. And you are angrily ‘liking’ their statuses, check-ins and selfies. That has to be one of the worst feelings ever. What do you do next? GET A ROOM in a beautiful city and let that travel begin.

I am Sad

That’s a no-brainer, just travel! If you are partner left you, your work sucks or your kid failed another exam, pack your bags and go…temporarily!!!

By now, you are almost convinced that you need a break. But you also know that you regularly go to travel websites and just can’t find what you are looking for. The hotel isn’t good enough or the prices are way beyond the sky and that immediately puts a stop to your holiday. We can help with that. Now, you donot need to visit a 100 hotel booking websites. All you need to do is check out , book a hotel and boom…you are off on your next holiday.

It’s time to check mark the adventure sports in your bucket list: The countdown begins! 10, 9…wait, don’t give us that perplexed look. Okay…fine, let us halt the countdown for a second and provide you with a reasonable explanation. But first, those travellers who love adventure please raise your hands. Yayyy!! We can see a lot many hands rising up. So dear adventurers do you have a bucket list? (Curios emoticon)For the game is that, as soon as the countdown begins you have to hunt for that bucket list which is hiding inside your diary or is decorated in a layer of dust inside your cupboard. The geniuses’ who carry their BL in their minds please stay still. Sooo… the countdown begins, 10… (Indiscreet chattering)…3, 2, 1…STOP! Okay, now as all of you have your bucket lists in your hand/mind so let’s begin to put a check mark on the following adventure sports which has jotted down for you travel fanatics.

It’s time to check mark the adventure sports in your bucket list

Hot Air Ballooning

Get on that hot air balloon with your bae and let the winds learn your name as you sing “I am on top of the world looking down on creation…” And while you plan this your waits for you in the pink city of Jaipur to help you see the awesomeness of aerial view.

Surfing

After having danced with the waves let us team-up with them and play hide and seek with this world. Oh! Heavenly waves hide us in your arms far away from the malice of this world. (Ah! The love affair with nature has transformed us to a poet lately). So greet Namaskaaram to at Kovalam, Kerala and feel the waves on your skin.

Glacier Climbing

Woah! Now that’s a tough one. But we travellers feed on such challenges, conquer them and document them as unforgettable episodes in the sands of time. So yeah! Bring it on! And yes, amidst the cold, feel warmed up with the hospitality of at Mount Abu.

Hush…hush, you can check mark paragliding, skiing and scuba diving as we will provide you a home-like stay at those places too. So hop-on champs and check-mark your Bucket List with the ink of your travel experiences. Head to to book your hotels or home-stays now.

HOMESTAYS A CHANCE TO EMBRACE DIVERSE CULTURES: Are you the rough and tough traveller with a dirty travel backpack which contains all your basic amenities or are you the fancy tourist who is always decked up in labels when visiting a particular destination? Do you have smiling photographs of yourself along with the people you meet during your travel journey or do you have more of those self-obsessed pout faced photos lying in your camera? Does your travel bag contain notepads, pens, books, a blanket and clothes which allow you to move freely or is it a mini world of Apple’s products?

HOMESTAYS A CHANCE TO EMBRACE DIVERSE CULTURES

Well, if you are our kind of people, yes, the ones whose dirty backpack speaks of their journey as a traveller, the ones who become exactly like the place they visit, and the ones who document their stories in photographs and in their travel diaries, then we have many exciting experiences waiting for you in the form of WudStay homestays. Want to know how our homestay accommodations will change the definition of travel for you? Very fine…then let the secret of what our homestays hold, unfold…

5 types of roommates everyone has

WHERE A NEW PLACE MEANS A NEW YOU

Adapting and embracing new surroundings brings out an altogether different side of you. Staying at a homestay gives you an opportunity to deeply understand the cultural significance of the place and thus live closer to its roots. You are able to live and see life through the eyes of the inhabitants of the place. And this experience alters each time you are at a new place. You get to meet and live closely with so many different people with varied cultures that each time you get to experience a new side of yourself. You become that person who has so many different souls inside a single body.

WHERE SATISFACTION COMES FROM SMALL THINGS

Homestays make you realize that our definition of luxury is so wrong. What exactly is luxury for us? A car, a big house and mountains of cash, right? But do you know what luxury is, in reality? It is being welcomed into a whole new culture with open arms. It is sitting and talking about the type of trees and bygone days with the elders who despite the lack of technology understand life better than us. It is eating chapattis cooked in a chulla with simple yet delicious broth with a family who were strangers to you till yesterday but have become your friends in a day. And it is homestays which provide you with such remarkable experiences in a distant land. The immense amount of satisfaction which you will get from these small gestures will take the form of impactful stories which you will be telling your grandchildren in the future to teach them valuable lessons.

5 reasons to stay in a Cheapflightsprices Hotel

WHERE YOU GIVE LITTLE BUT GET MORE

Homestays always provide you with pocket friendly accommodations. You pay little but the richness of the lessons which you get to learn and implement in your life is absolutely priceless. Homestays let you feel the purity of the love which people who welcome strangers into their homes hold. And getting to live moments like this not only changes your perception of life completely but it also brings in a fresh blast of positive energy into your life.

So when you travel next book our homestay and say yes to the plethora of beautiful moments that await you. And while you do that try to think of the relief which you will get when somebody opens up the doors of their house for you at two in the night in a strange land. That is the magic of homestays dear readers it is nothing but a home away from a home

5 types of roommates everyone has: It has been quite some time since we were introduced to the subject of Human behaviour; no it was not a subject in college but something we learned outside the class. We’ve seen our share of good and bad roommates; some became friends for life while some made you realize that you’ve should’ve gone for single. Here’s a succinct recap of the ‘roomies’ we’ve had in our lives.

5 types of roommates everyone has

Yaar safe nai hai

This person is the messiah of good deeds and a reincarnation of our parents away from home, he would be the first person to reject any out of the box plan and start dwindling the risk factors for anything you’re planning to do.

SOS friend

The official ‘fall back upon’ person, he/she will always know what’s going with you without you even saying anything. They are the ones who will constantly listen to your on how your life is screwed without even sulking. They are your officially go to person for mental and emotional matters.

The Nerd

Because with this guy there will be conversations which completely go over your head. They practically have an opinion on everything that passes by and the best part is that they will reason you out in every debate you have with them.

The Perfect friend

This is the person with whom you know that this is the one, there is no reason for it but you just know. It may be due to similar hobbies or similar attitude towards life and you’ll agree with us here that there has been at least one such roommate in your lives.

Dirt Box

Breadcrumbs, leftover pizza slices and dirty laundries are their favorite acquaintances, they’re everywhere. It gets worse when you come back from home. The room is in a complete mess as if it was raided by cops while you were away.

Irrespective of the little annoying habits, every room mate has a special place in our hearts. And at WudStay, we realise that each Hostel/PG has huge emotional value. That is why we strive to create a home that keeps you comfortable and safe.

An affair of travel and food in these five Indian cities: The spices begin their customary dance on the perfectly flat stage of the frying pan as soon as the chef throws them in the hot oil. The finely chopped onions which follow have their own melody to sing. Their song continues until they turn golden brown after which they meet the freshly mashed potatoes on the pan and add their juicy flavours to it. Just next to it, the rice batter falls in love with the steaming hot cast iron pan and spreads on its surface before rising in glory. The story continues and the mashed potato mixture meets the thin rice crust on the bigger pan, a few chopped tomatoes, green chillies and grated coconut too join the party before they are enclosed in the form of a letter roll and served on a banana leaf with spicy chutneys. People call this process, cooking, we call it Art. And we stand at a point where the smell of this food meets the music of the waves and the dauntless spirit of the shinning sun. No luxurious restaurant can replace the feeling of eating underneath the open sky while wondering about the vastness of the ocean. Yes, we travel for food. People call us travelling foodies but we like to define ourselves as the ministers who want to unite travel and food in holy matrimony. We are bitten by the lust for food and drenched completely in the love for travel and we bring to you today bits and bytes about the affair of food and travel in these five cities.

5 must visit places for the literary travellers: Travelling takes you places and so does literature. Travel is nothing but literature flowing in the form of a silent story which is narrated through your smile in that photograph of yours, underneath the mountain ranges. And literature is nothing but time travelling to different places from one fixed place.

Travelling makes you live many lives and so does literature. Travel sometimes makes you a villager who sows seeds in the red soil and at other times it makes you a trekker who wants to climb that mountain only to view the piousness in the rays of the morning sun which seem to enter the body and enlighten every dark corner inside. Literature makes you live hundreds of lives through the pen of the writer, sometimes you are Lady Chatterley from Lady Chatterley’s lover and at other times you are Ursula from Women in Love. Great writing is nothing but the outcome of travels to the farthest corners of the Earth. You travel, you stay, you observe, you absorb and then you immortalize it with the ink in your pen. Travel and Literature form a circle together – one leads to the other.

Travel is passion, it is love, it is worship and so is literature. And if you have been bitten by the love for both, travel and literature then you my dear literary traveller have already lived and seen things that others will never get to experience. We too like you love the smell of old books as much as we love the smell of the earth after rainfall. And though you can always travel to a hill top or a beach and read or write out there but today we have shortlisted five of the most beautiful libraries where you can travel and live literature surrounded by the soul in the works of great literates.

You throw your bag on the couch, remove the tie, roll-up your shirt’s sleeves and walk to the mini bar in your dining room area wishing you had a cellar where you could wine and dine. You open a bottle of red and make it flow into two wine glasses. It perfectly settles into the glasses while dispensing its rich aroma into the air. You walk with the two glasses in hand to the living room area and hand over one of the perfectly curved glasses of wine to the woman in your life. While stirring the wine glass slowly you let the smell of the wine seep into your system and then let the richness of its taste overpower your senses. Great wine calls for great music and so you sing along as your laptop’s speaker play the classic songs of Billy Joel while you hope that you had a gramophone to play the records.
